Sharon Star Fisher

Sharon Hanke

I’m an Instructional Designer with a master’s degree in Communication Studies, and that background shapes everything about the way I design learning. I understand how people think, how they communicate, and what helps information truly “stick.” I take a cognitive and communicative approach to every project—making learning feel clear, grounded, and supportive.

Whether I’m creating training for thousands of learners or partnering one-on-one with a team, I focus on removing confusion, simplifying the complex, and designing experiences that genuinely help people grow. I love turning big ideas into learning that feels accessible, meaningful, and empowering.

Masters of Science in Communication Studies

One of the best parts about a masters degree in communication, particularly from Texas Christian University, is that you learn not only how to communicate better but also how to help others communicate AND how to study and analyze communication problems and issues.

BA General Studies: Fine Arts and Humanities

As a General Studies Major at the only university located at the geographical center of the United States, UNK, I was able to focus my attention on not on only one subject area but a whole plethora. On top of the basic liberal arts general studies curriculum I was able to receive education in studio art, music, dance, theatre, speech, and English. Why study one area of interest when you can study 6?

Scuba

If you’re dying to know more, here are 5 fascinating and fun things you don’t know about me…

  1. I became certified in Scuba Diving after 2 students delivered speeches on the subject and I always want them to know their speeches are important (one time it was switching to raw milk)

  2. I grew up in a small town in Nebraska called Ogallala, famous for its place on the Oregon Trail

  3. I helped support myself through grad school by teaching private voice and piano lessons to students ages 3 – 85

  4. I was once on a reality TV show called How Do I Look with Finola Hughes that filmed at Marilyn Monroe’s old house in LA

  5. I love to figure out ways to help people learn and my favorite students are the ones who don’t get it the first time and force me to teach not just outside of the box but sometimes on top of it and through it.
